Water supply zones

  • In general, to be wholesome, water must comply with the standards set out in the Regulations. The Company carried out a total of 313 tests on samples taken in its water supply zone. All parameters fully complied with the standards. Parameter meanings can be found at the beginning of this section.

Treatment works

  • There were no contraventions of the microbiological standards at the Company's water treatment works in 2000.

Service reservoirs

  • At the Company's one service reservoir, coliforms were absent from at least 95% of samples. There were no failures of the standard for faecal coliforms.

  • No major deficiencies were identified but one recommendation was made regarding on-site determinations.

Incidents

  • The Inspectorate did not regard the single event notified by the Company during 2000 as an incident in which drinking water quality demonstrably deteriorated.

  • No remedial programmes of work were due for full completion during 2000.

Enforcement Action

  • No Enforcement action needed to be considered for the Company as a result of the Inspectorate's work during 2000.
