INTRODUCTION

  1. This comprehensive report is aimed at the reader wanting greater depth of coverage and more technical detail than is provided in the hard copy of Drinking Water 2000 A report by the Chief Inspector. To view the brief version click here.

  2. The sections outlined below cover the full range of the Inspectorate's activities, but focuses mainly on the extent to which water companies comply with the legal requirements concerning drinking water quality and the actions taken by the Water Companies and the DWI where requirements are not being met. All companies are complying with all the Regulations except where noted, and they are generally committed to improvement programmes to deal with those relatively few instances where regulations are breached.

  3. For a good understanding of the sections on individual companies, is it important to read the Report as a whole.
