Audits undertaken by DWI to ensure compliance with the Cryptosporidium Regulations

Annual Announced Audit of the Licenced Cryptosporidium Laboratories. This is the formal annual audit of the laboratory to determine if the laboratory should continue to hold a licence to undertake regulatory analysis of Cryptosporidium oocysts. Formal notification of the intention to undertake an audit is made prior to the audit.

Unannounced Audit of the Licenced Cryptosporidium Laboratories.
At least one unannounced audit is scheduled to be undertaken at each licenced laboratory per calendar year. Additional audits will be undertaken during the year should the Inspectorate deem them necessary. The unannounced audit can be a cold call or up to 24 hours notice will be given.

Announced audit of the sampler undertaking the exchange of the filter modules for the regulatory analysis of Cryptosporidium oocysts. A minimum of one audit will be undertaken per calendar year at site(s) undertaking sampling for the regulatory analysis Cryptosporidium oocysts.

An announced audit of the regulatory Cryptosporidium sampling unit and associated pipework will be undertaken at least once per annum in accordance with the standards laid down in Part 1 of the Standard Operating Protocol. The audit will also check that the log book is being used and information is being correctly entered into the log book. Specific checks will be made of tag numbers, any tag changes made since the last audit, maintenance records and an audit of the entries in the log. An audit of the site log will be undertaken on every visit to a regulatory Cryptosporidium sampling unit to detmine that it satisfies the requirements of section 3.5 of Part 1 of the Standard Operating Protocol.

An announced audit of sites at which membrane treatment is installed to determine the membrane integrity testing regime and its efficacy. The frequency of these audits will be undertaken at the discretion of DWI.
