Drinking Water Inspectorate: Information Letter 8/99 - 6 May 1999

To: Board Level contacts of Water and Sewerage Companies and Water Companies in England and Wales

Dear Sir/Madam,

Change of Internet E-Mail Address

1. In DWI Information Letter 8/98, you were informed of the arrangements for submission of information to the Inspectorate and of its Dial.Pipex e-mail address. I am writing to inform you that we have set up new e-mail addresses for water companies, including one especially designated for receipt of compliance and related data.

2.Paragraph 7 of Information Letter 8/98 set out the data which should be submitted via the Inspectorate’s Document Controller. All data which should be submitted to the Document Controller, including all monthly, six-monthly and annual compliance data, may be sent to:

dwidoc_controller@detr.gsi.gov.uk

You may continue to send information by post. Please ensure this is addressed to the Document Controller at Floor 2/F3. Not all companies have been sending data to the Document Controller as requested, and this letter is a reminder of the importance of sending all relevant data to the correct addressee, whether by e-mail or post.

3. For notification of incidents and all other correspondence, you may use:

dwi_enquiries@detr.gsi.gov.uk

All correspondence received by e-mail will be acknowledged by return and we will continue to maintain the current levels of service standards for enquiries as set out in our Code for Enforcement.

4. Water company personnel will be aware of the individual e-mail addresses of Inspectors. These can be used for general correspondence when it is known that the Inspector is in the office to receive it. However, the Inspectorate cannot guarantee that the e-mails will be read if Inspectors are out of the office. It is therefore essential that all statutory business related e-mails are directed to the general addresses given in paragraphs 2 and 3.

5. You should note that the e-mail address and the postal address for compliance data as given in Information Letter 8/98 has been superseded.
