To: Day to Day Contacts of Water and Sewerage Companies
and Water Companies in England and Wales.
Dear Sir or Madam
Contact Arrangements for the Notification of Events under the Water Undertakers (Information) Direction 2004 and notification of cryptosporidium anomalies.
Purpose
- DWI Information Letter 06/05 gave further details of the organisational changes taking place in the Inspectorate. The purpose of this letter is to inform companies of the consequential changes to contact arrangements for the notification of events under the Water Undertakers (Information) Direction 2004 and Priority 1 cryptosporidium anomalies (previously described in Information Letter 14/2004).
Detail
- Annex A contains details of the cascade process to be used by companies when notifying events and Priority 1 cryptosporidium notifications. The first point of contact should be the Company’s nominated Operations Group Inspector.
- As advised in Information Letter 14/2004 telephone notification of cryptosporidium anomalies is only required for Priority 1 notifications. Priority 2, 3 and 4 notifications should be notified by email to the Company’s nominated Operations Group Inspector. Priority 4 notifications continue to be required by email on a monthly basis only. All cryptosporidium notifications sent by email should also be copied to the DWI Document Controller. Annex B to this letter also contains the relevant email addresses.
- The new contact arrangements are effective from 1 June 2005.
Future changes
- The Inspectorate is currently recruiting to fill vacancies in the Operations Group. Companies are reminded that where, as indicated in IL 06/05 their allocated Operations Group Inspector is listed as a vacant post, Companies should in the first instance contact the relevant Principal Inspector for their region. When new Inspectors are appointed the contact arrangements will be updated and Companies informed.
