DWI Information Letter 10/2005
13 July 2005
To: Board Level and Day to Day Contacts of Water and Sewerage Companies
and Water Companies in England and Wales
Dear Sir or Madam
UPDATE
ON THE RESTRUCTURING OF THE DRINKING WATER INSPECTORATE
- The purpose of this letter is to provide a further update on the organisational changes
that are taking place in DWI.
- On the technical side, the transitional stage is drawing to a close. This was planned to
coincide with the move to 55 Whitehall, which takes place over the coming weekend. Our
telephone numbers remain unchanged, as do the email addresses. Attached is a list of the new office locations, which come into effect on 18 July.
- Also next week we will be interviewing for the three vacant Inspectors posts. Successful
candidates will hopefully be in post by late September/early October. Initially they will
join the Operations Group and will be introduced to their companies accordingly.
- On a personal front, I will be leaving DWI at the end of September. My areas of
responsibility are now being picked up by John Gray, Milo Purcell and David Drury.
- Copies of this letter are being sent to Pamela Taylor, Chief Executive, Water UK;
Richard Wood, Water Supply and Regulation Division, Department for Environment, Food and
Rural Affairs; June Milligan, Environment Division, Welsh Assembly Government; Tim Hooton,
Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland; Randal Scott, Drinking Water Inspectorate
for Northern Ireland; Chairs of the Regional WaterVoice Committees; Rowena Tye and Tony
Smith, Office of Water Services; Tony Warn, Environment Agency; Nigel Harrison, Food
Standards Agency; and Gary Coleman at the Health Protection Agency.
- This letter is being sent electronically to Board Level and day to day contacts. Please
acknowledge receipt by email to dwi.informationletters@defra.gsi.gov.uk.
Hard copies are not being sent but the letter may be freely copied. Any enquiries about
the letter should be addressed directly to me.
Yours sincerely
Miss C R Jackson
