THE CRYPTOSPORIDIUM WEB SITE AND THE LATEST REVISION OF PART 1 OF THE
STANDARD OPERATING PROTOCOL
Purpose
- The purpose of this letter is to inform laboratories and water companies of the latest
revision of Part 1 of the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP).
Introduction
- The regulatory sampling and analysis of samples for Cryptosporidium oocysts is
undertaken in accordance with the SOP. The document not only sets down the method of
sampling and analysis but also prescribes the equipment required to sample and undertake
the analysis. This letter informs both water companies and laboratories of the revised
version of Part 1 of the SOP, together with a list of amendments to Part 1.
Revision of Part 1 Standard Operating Protocol for Sampling and Transportation of
samples
- A significant revision of Part 1 of the SOP was undertaken to incorporate Annex 3 of DWI Information Letter 2/2000 this has resulted in a number
of amendments to update the document and bring it into line with the current requirements.
- A number of minor typographical and spelling errors have also been corrected.
- A copy of the amendments to Part 1 of
the SOP is appended to this letter. The revised versions will be posted on the website
shortly and are dated 12 October 2005.
