To: Board Level and
Day to Day Contacts of Water and Sewerage Companies and Water Companies in England and
Wales
Dear Sir/Madam New Structure for the Drinking Water InspectorateI am pleased to provide you with information about the Inspectorates new structure which takes effect from 1st June. I am providing with this letter details of the structure and appointments in the form of an organisation chart. You will note from the chart that the Operations team headed by Sharon Evans has been reshaped and now comprises two teams of five inspectors each headed by a newly appointed Principal Inspector. Sharon will write to you and the industry in the near future updating the Operations structure chart and giving details of any changes in company inspectors. Another change of particular interest to the industry will be the bringing together of our water quality data management and business support teams under the leadership of Jim Foster. Finally, in recognition of upcoming changes in public and private water supply regulations, the Periodic Review of Water Prices (PR09) and the new Regulation 31 process, two of our most experienced Principal Inspectors have joined Milo Purcells team. The management team as a whole has been enhanced to a team of seven with the appointment of Marcus Rink, Laura Moss and Sue Pennison as Principal Inspectors. The chart also gives the names of the four new members of our team who are joining the Inspectorate this month from the industry or academia: Katherine Ardeshir, Annabelle May, Joanna Hunt and Shaun Jones. Copies of this letter are being sent to Pamela Taylor, Chief Executive, Water UK; Richard Wood, Water Supply and Regulation Division, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; Matthew Quinn, Environment Division, Welsh Assembly Government; Colin McLaren, Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland; Randal Scott, Drinking Water Inspectorate for Northern Ireland; Tony Smith and Chairs of the Regional Consumer Council for Water; Rowena Tye for Office of Water Services; Tony Warn, Environment Agency; Nigel Harrison, Food Standards Agency; and Gary Coleman at the Health Protection Agency.
