Water undertaker as appointed under section 6 of the Water Industry Act 1991 (as amended): South Staffordshire Water Plc, with registered number 02662742 (hereinafter called ‘the company’).

Details of this Notice:
- This Notice is served on the company by the Drinking Water Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of State, under regulation 27(4) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) for the assets listed above, for risks associated with wholesomeness.
Requirements:
- The company are required to satisfy the following:
(a) Carry out a risk assessment:
- Carry out a regulation 27(2) risk assessment, using the source to tap approach, for the Eddington Supply System. The risk assessment shall include the following:
- Identification of the catchment hazards and ensure these have been risk assessed for the intended uses of this supply.
- Ascertain the raw water storage conditions of the unwholesome supply and determine the risks therein, such as stagnation, animal access and materials used.
- Establish the efficacy of the treatment process in removing or mitigating the catchment risks.
- Determine the extent to which the supply is unwholesome, including any potential danger to human health it may pose when used as intended.
- Ensure that the wholesome supply cannot be cross contaminated by the unwholesome supply.
- Identify the water quality risks at the treatment works and in the distribution system that could lead to cross-connection and/or stagnation.
- Identify and implement effective mitigation to prevent cross contamination of the wholesome and unwholesome supplies within properties.
- Confirm the public health risk associated with Legionella SPP in these supplies.
Date by which requirement must be satisfied: 14 November 2025.
(b) Review of a risk assessment:
- Not applicable.
(c) Reporting:
- Submit the revised or new risk assessment (as appropriate) as outlined in section 1 and 2, accompanied by a Board level Director sign-off.
Date by which requirement must be satisfied: As soon as reasonably practicable upon completion. It is anticipated this would be by: 14 November 2025.
