List of Approved Products for use in Public Water Supply in the United Kingdom

All approved products must be used in accordance with the specific conditions of approval, listed against the product names. In addition, the following general conditions of approval apply to all approved products:

That use is in accordance with an Instructions for Use IFU) document. Approval holders must provide drinking water suppliers with copies of the IFU document that was considered by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) when approval was recommended.
That the approval of the Authorities is obtained on condition that there shall be:
- No change in the formulation of the approved product, including change in the source or identity of raw materials.
- No change in the manufacturing process, including location of manufacture.
- No change in designation of the approved product.
- No change in name or ownership of the organisation holding the approval.
That the producer shall ensure that the product is tested for conformity with its formulation, and the source or identity of its raw materials, at such intervals and by such persons, as may be determined by the Authorities. The results of such testing shall be sent to the Authorities.
If there is a suspicion that any of the above is not being followed or has changed then notify the DWI Regulation 31 team, who will investigate (reg31.enquiries@defra.gov.uk).

Where tabs are numbered, the number represents the annex of the previous approved products list, which have been incorporated into this tool. Note, annex 2 (EU Standards) and the stainless steel section of annex 3 remain as separate documents, published below.
The list is currently refreshed twice daily, however the recognised grades list is updated periodically as and when these are reviewed.
The tabs for expired and revoked products are currently being worked on and will be available very soon.
Each tab contains filters to assist in navigation. There are two types; free text search boxes and drop-down menus. For the best results, ensure the filters are cleared before commencing a search.
